General

What are the difference in linings? (Only available on certain products)
Standard lining - This is a Poly/Cotton fabric which helps to protect the main fabric from fading by sunlight. It is a thin backing to the blind. Blackout - This is a Poly/Cotton fabric with an acrylic coating. Blackout lining greatly reduces light from outside penetrating a room. Thermal - This is a Poly/Cotton fabric with a thermal acrylic flocked coated. This will keep the heat either in or out. In winter, it will help to keep the room warmer but in summer, it will help to keep the room cooler. Interlined - This is a Poly/Cotton fabric with 100% polyester wadding. Interlining improves the look of the blinds by giving more fullness.
What's the benefit of real wood or Faux?
Real wood is a classic choice for your blinds. It provides privacy, durability and excellent light control. Real wood is also lightweight yet hardwearing, making it a practical choice throughout your home. Our real Wood is renewably sourced from sustainable forests.  Faux wood gives the illusion of real wood but can be used in bathrooms and kitchens where conditions maybe be more moist but these blinds will not be effected as they will not warp.
What blinds are best suited for a kitchen?
When choosing a kitchen blind you need to consider what you want from a blind: to dress the window, privacy, light filter or insulation. Other things to consider are how the blind may be affected by the activity in the room such as splashes from the sink, smells and water/humidity. We offer a number of products that are easily cleaned just by a simply wipe down, for example Faux Wood, Venetians or our moisture resistant products. Other products you chose may require to be dry cleaned.
What type of product would be best for my bathroom?

You need to take extra consideration when choosing a product for your bathroom. With hot water running, it is often a humid space that requires a moisture resistant product such as a PVC/fibreglass or Faux Wood blind.
Which type of blinds are best for my conservatory?
Pleated blinds have been designed to help to keep the temperature down in the summer months while retaining the heat in the winter months. Other blinds including Romans, Rollers, Verticals and Venetians are great options too.
What product would you recommend for a bay window?

All types of blinds or curtains can look fabulous in a bay window.  Layering different products such as Romans matched with Curtains can make a room stand out or opting for Shutters can look beautiful, enhancing the features of the room. Depending on the shape of the bay window the products can be made with a curved headrail to follow the shape of the bay. Or you can choose to have one blind fitted at each window.
What is the best product for patio doors?
Intu blinds are designed for bi-fold and patio doors, there is no drilling of screwing required. Pleated and PerfectFit blinds work well in patio doors, but Verticals, Day & Night and Voile Curtains all look well. As is with every item you purchase you need to consider what it is you want from the product; to dress the window, privacy, light filtration or insulation.
The sun shines into my room but I don’t want to block out all the light?
Our products come with a variety of different material choices, some of which have different opacities. You may opt to layer the window with curtains and voiles, which also brings a feeling of sophistication and class.  Venetians and Verticals can be titled to give you greater control over the amount of light coming into the room, as can shutters. Whilst a large number of Roller and Pleated blind fabrics will allow light to filter through the fabric and still giving you privacy as you need it.
I would like a blind but with the luxury fabric of a curtain, what would you suggest?
A Roman blind would be the best choice, we use the same luxury fabrics from our curtain range for our Roman Blinds, they’re lined and we can even offer interlining for a fuller look and feel.
I’m not very keen on the view out of my window but I still want some natural light to come through, what’s the right solution?
A made to measure blind will enhance the room and cover the view from your window. Wood or Faux Wood Venetians and Vertical Blinds can be tilted to allow light into the room, whilst a non-blackout roller blind can add a beautiful colour or wonderful pattern into your room whilst still allowing light to filter through
What blackout products can you provide?
All our Roman blinds and Curtains can be made with a blackout lining, we also have Blackout Roller and pleated blackout blinds.  The best way to make a room as dark as possible is use multiple blackout products, for example a blackout roller on the inside of the recess and Curtains or a Roman blind with blackout lining on the outside of the recess, this is known as layering.
Do your Curtains and Roman blinds come with a lining?

All our Curtains and Roman blinds come with a standard lining. We also offer Thermal and Blackout lining on our curtains and Blackout and Interlining on our Roman Blinds.

Child Safety

Do you offer child safety devices?
Yes.  Our advisor will take care of installing a child safety device for you, as required by law. We will never fit a blind without fitting the required child safety device. If you have purchased a standard Roman, Venetian, Wood Venetian or free-hang Pleated blind, it will be fitted with a cleat for the controls to be wrapped around. Or if you have chosen a Roller, Vertical or deluxe Roman blind, this will be a hook to keep the controls taut. If you really do not want a blind with a visible child safety device, you may want to consider cordless options such as our Intu, PerfectFit, Tab Pleated, or motorised Roller and Day & Night blinds.
We also offer free child safety devices for blinds which have already been fitted - even if you didn’t buy from Mode Blinds. To find out more and order your free devices visit www.makeitchildsafe.co.uk.
I don’t have children, can I request not to have the child safety device?
We are required by law to fit all child safety devices to all blinds where they are required irrespective of whether you have children or not. You may have children visit your premises at some point. It is also your obligation to ensure that the blind it safe, even if you vacate the premises and leave the blinds in situ.
Can I sign a waiver form to confirm that I have authorised this child safety device was requested by me not to be fitted?
No. We need to ensure we are keeping everyone including children safe. We will not fit a blind without ensuring it is fit for purpose and fully safe.
